Calathea zebrina Zebra Plant
Part shade to full shade (avoid direct sun); medium water. Compact evergreen ornamental houseplant with striking leaves featuring zebra stripes. At dusk, leaves fold together in a way that resembles pryaing hands. Grows best in bright shade, with uniformly moist soil in a pot with drainage holes, room temperature of 65 - 75F and high humidity (place on tray with wet pebbles, mist or place a humidifier in the room). Reduce watering in winter when plant growth slows. Typically grows to 1-3 feet tall as an indoor container plant. Native to tropical areas of southeastern Brazil.
